Health Benefits of a Sauna.1,It relieves stress, medical studies show stress in our lives affect our health and the vast majority of illness is stress related.Sauna uses cite stress reduction as the number 1 benefit of sauna use. The heat of the sauna relaxes the body, improves circulation and stimulates the release of endorphin’s-the body’s natural feel good chemical. The second of the Health Benefits of a Sauna, with the release of endorphin’s- which can have a mild tranquilizing effect and the ability to minimize pain in the muscles and joints and relaxing the whole body.Your body temperature rises from the heat of the Sauna, your blood vessels dilate therefore increasing blood circulation and helping with high blood pressure. The increased blood flow speeds up the body’s natural healing process, speeding up the healing of minor cuts and bruises.Another one of the health benefits of a Sauna it is said to relax muscles by eliminating lactic acid and toxins built up while exercising. Detoxifying our bodies makes us feel better. By going in a sauna and the process of a deep sweat can help reduce levels of lead, copper, zinc, nickel, mercury which are all toxins commonly absorbed just from our daily environment. There are plenty of books telling us to detoxify our bodies and many doctors will agree a sauna is one of the best way of detoxifying.A deep sweat also cleanses the skin and rids dead skin cells leaving your skin soft.It will not cure acne but it does help due to the deep cleansing it provides. Research has found that nutrients and minerals in sweat are essential to maintain the collagen structure of the skin, and if the collagen in our skin is maintained we have less wrinkles and sags.So lets look at another one of the Health Benefits of a Sauna. It can induce a deeper sleep this is due to the raise and fall of temperature and the slow relaxing decline of endorphin’s.Sauna’s can also improve cardiovascular performance as your body heats up your heart rate can go from 60-70 beats per minute to 110-120 beats per minute and can often sink below normal after the cooling off stage. So with regular saunas we can train our heart muscles and improve the heart rate/cardiac output and help the body’s regulatory system. With short bursts of heat then cool then heat and cool etc the heart benefits from the change in beats as it does in moderate exercise. So to the last couple of health benefits of a sauna. they can fight illness. I know if i have a cold or blocked nose I have a sauna with eucalyptus oil in the water for the steam and it clears the pain of sinus congestion. The medical reason for your body fighting illness is as you heat up in the sauna your body makes white blood cells more rapidly, which in turn helps to fight illness and kill infections. So to finish there are good medical reasons to have a sauna and they will all make you feel better,or is it that for the time you enter the heat and relaxing atmosphere of the sauna and unwind and just spend some time thinking and doing nothing. What ever your reason for having a sauna its a good reason. So why not book you log fired sauna break with us at www.hartofmull.co.uk And find out the Health Benefits of a Sauna for your self. Isle of Mull
Isle of Mull to me is a fantastic place to live.It is a beautiful Island with changing scenery around every corner .The Hebridean Isle of Mull is the third largest Island in Scotland, And is easy to travel to with three different ferry routes on to the Island. But what do you the visitors think to our Isle of Mull . Please leave your comment below about your Time here on the Isle of Mull, or your time in our cabins if you stayed with us. What do you think of the History or the castles, Did you see our wild life from the famous white tailed sea eagles to lesser known birds and even the moths and butterfly’s that all fly around in our fresh clean air.
The roads here on Mull have been repaired at last so If you have not been here in a while now is a good time to return, as we have also had good weather for most of the season with just an occasional bit of rain but June in whole was the driest ever and a whole lot better than the main land.I feel very lucky to live here on the Isle of Mull, So we are glad we can offer Hart of Mull Self Catering Log Cabins as a place to stay so you can experience some of the wonderful things Mull has to offer. If you are thinking of coming to Isle of Mull please have a look at our accommodation or if you have been to Mull please leave a comment below letting us know what you think. Walks on Mull
Walks on Mull, Where do I start there are so many. They range from the gardens of Torosay and Aros Park to Ben More Mulls only Munro. Ben More starts at sea level and rises to a height of 3179 feet and can be climbed from the North at Dhiseig or the South near Loch Scridain although this is the harder climb. Then there is Mackinnon’s Cave one of the longest sea caves in the Hebrides, The length of this walk on Mull is 2 miles (there and Back).
If you are after longer walks on Mull try Burg and the Fossil Tree walk, this is 14 miles (there and Back). I enjoyed a trip to Ulva, an Island just of Mull accessed by a foot passenger ferry summoned by uncovering a red panel on a board at the slipway. Once on Ulva you can do a short walk or if you have time you can walk around the island and on the western end visit Gometra by a little bridge, And before you catch the ferry back stop of at the Boathouse restaurant for a meal or just coffee and cake.
There are a lot of Forest walks on Mull, one starting in Salen giving you open views back over the village and is about 3 miles long a good walk to do on an evening from our log cabins and call in the Salen Hotel on the way back.
Then there is Treshnish, spectacular coastal scenery and seascapes, ruined villages and a hidden cave where it is said they used to make the best (illegal) whisky on Mull. This is a circular walk and the distance is 6.5 miles. These are just a few of the many walks on Mull we have a handy little book in the cabins with many more walks. If you would like to visit the Isle of Mull please have a look at our accommodation on the rest of our website. Tim and Diane Mellor. Hart of Mull Self Catering Log Cabins.

White Tailed Sea Eagles on Mull
White Tailed Sea Eagles on Mull are doing well again . This year sees a move of hide from Loch Frisa to Glen Seilisdeir. The pair of White Tailed Sea Eagles that can be seen from the hide have been named Iona and Fingal . The pair have been together since 2002 and have fledged five chicks over the years so lets hope they do well this year with their two chicks .
The New white tailed sea eagle hide is well worth a visit as is the boat trip of the west coast with Mull Charters, many of our guests have been on this trip and say it is worth every penny. Apart for trips the sea eagle can often be seen out and about and with a wing span of 2.4 meters they are hard to miss . The size of the nest as you will imagine is not small at about 2 meters across and over half a meter deep . We are proud of how the White Tailed Sea Eagles on Mull have settled and are breeding and living successfully from when they where introduced in the 1990’s form Norway. Its hard to think of a time before their was no white Tailed Sea Eagles on Mull. The Hide at Glen Seilisdeir is open Monday to Friday from April-September, running two trips a day and Rangers will give you all the information you will need on the white tailed Sea Eagles on Mull booking is essential , please ask us for any information on wild life trips on the island
